At a glance
The University of Sheffield profiled Sansanima Limited and our work to replace animal use in the manufacture and quality control of clostridial neurotoxin based medical products. CEO Ciara Doran explains how our cell based platform supports products such as tetanus vaccine.
What the University said
“Our scientists are fully committed to finding other alternatives to animal research.” The feature highlights Sansanima, a University of Sheffield spinout, and our progress in delivering animal free testing for clostridial biologics.
Why it matters
Our fully physiological cell based assays mirror the intoxication pathway and provide specific, sensitive, and reproducible readouts. This removes the need for animals in routine batch release and potency workflows and is designed to prevent the use of guinea pigs in QC for major medicines, including tetanus vaccine.
